Hanging out

So back home in Hawaii, when the young ones get together it's mostly going out to do stuff, like beach, mall, movies. Here in Guam they do that too, but they also just go over to someone's house and hang out a lot as well. They get together and play cards and music and have potluck. It's a lot of fun.

The other night a brother picked me up and we went over to a family's house and had dinner there. Then everyone busted out their guitars and started playing music together. They also had those box things things that you sit on and hit to drum (idk what it's called haha)

Then after that we played the card game mafia. (I was the successful murderer thank you very much:))

It was a lot of fun! Pictures taken by Joe Salas, Dededo congregation

Settling in

Hi everyone! Hope you're all doing good. I've been in Guam for basically 4 days and I'm settling in pretty well. Been so busy! I've realized just how crazy and hectic a circuit overseers life is!! But it has been pretty awesome. The congregation that we are serving is so nice and loving. They've made me feel right at home. I've even already got some offers from a few different families if I need somewhere to stay. So nice right?!

Field service is very hot and sticky. But I think I can handle! Like I even have an option haha. The people here in Guam are nice and most take the time to have a conversation. There is great potential in this territory.

My first door was interesting. I knocked and a man came out in boxers, holding a rifle! Yes a rifle! "whoa is this what Guam is like!?" I was thinking. He looked at me, saw the expression on my face, looked down at his gun and realized that I was frightened. "oh im sorry!" he said and brought the gun back inside! Later he explained he was heading out to shooting practice and had not harmful intentions! Hahaha!!! It was an experience that's for sure. We actually had a very good discussion, and he may come to the meeting on Sunday!
Hopefully arms free :)

First day in field

So today was my first day out in feild here in Guam. Mark is serving in the south congregation this week. It is a very nice and warm congregation. The singing at the meeting is so loud!! I was kind of startled at the beginning of the song at last nights meeting it was that loud haha.

Field service was very nice. You don't need ties ever in feild :) I was with a brother named Clinton and a sister named Marie. We did calls and went on a study. The sister made me conduct the study! :/ but don't worry it was in English haha. The study's name is Aunty mary and she was really nice. And as you can see in one of the pictures below she gave us some pickled mango! Hmm.

It poured really really hard today which the brothers say was very rare. But after about an hour of heavy down pour it cleared up and got really sunny and hot. But overall it was such a nice day in feild with the south cong.
